- 1 teaspoon of ground coriander
- 1 teaspoon of ground turmeric
- 1 teaspoon of salt

- 2 tablespoons of cilantro, chopped
- 1 lime, cut into wedges
Instructions:
- Wash the rice in cold water until the water runs clear. Drain and set aside.

- Fluff the rice with a fork and transfer to a serving bowl.
- Garnish the rice with the sliced eggs, green onions, and cilantro. Serve with lime wedges on the side.
Introduction:
If you’re looking for a delicious and traditional Surinamese dish, look no further than nasi! This flavorful rice dish is a staple in Surinamese cuisine and is often served with meat, vegetables, and a host of spices and seasonings. In this recipe, we’ll be using beef sirloin to add some heartiness and protein to the dish, but feel free to substitute with chicken, shrimp, or tofu if you prefer.
One of the key elements of Surinamese nasi is the use of sweet soy sauce, also known as ketjap manis. This thick and syrupy sauce is a staple in Indonesian and Surinamese cooking and adds a unique sweet and savory flavor to the dish. You can find sweet soy sauce at your local Asian grocery store or online, or you can make your own by mixing regular soy sauce with brown sugar and some spices.
Another important ingredient in Surinamese nasi is ground cumin. This spice adds an earthy and warm flavor to the dish and pairs perfectly with the sweet soy sauce. Make sure to use ground cumin, rather than cumin seeds, for best results.
Once you’ve tried this Surinamese nasi recipe, you’ll be hooked on the delicious flavors and aromas of this traditional dish. Serve it as a main course or as a side dish to your favorite Surinamese or Indonesian dishes. Enjoy!
