Introduction
Bami Goreng is one of my favourite Indonesian dishes that I learned to cook when I lived in Indonesia for a few months. It’s a dish that’s often served at street food stalls, restaurants, and homes across Indonesia, especially in Java, Bali, and Sumatra regions. What I love about this dish is the perfect balance of sweet, savoury, and spicy flavours in one bowl. The sauce used in this recipe is a combination of sweet soy sauce (kecap manis), oyster sauce, and sesame oil, which gives this dish a unique flavour and aroma. You can adjust the level of heat by adding more or fewer chillies to your liking.
This recipe is versatile, and you can add any vegetables you have on hand, such as bok choy, broccoli, zucchini, or mushrooms. You can also use tofu or shrimps instead of chicken if you prefer. Fresh egg noodles work best for this recipe, but if you can’t find them, you can use dried Chinese noodles or even spaghetti.
One tip to make your Bami Goreng taste even better is to marinate the chicken in some soy sauce, garlic, and ginger for an hour or two before you start cooking. It will add an extra layer of flavour to your dish. Another cool trick is to use a wok or large frying pan and stir-fry on high heat to get a nice char on the vegetables and chicken. Finally, the secret to making perfect Bami Goreng is not to overcook the noodles. They should be slightly chewy and not mushy.
With this recipe, you can make a delicious Indonesian dish in less than 30 minutes that everyone will love. Try it today, and let us know how it turns out.
