Dulce de Leche Tiramisu Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 lb of mascarpone cheese
- 1 cup of heavy cream
- 1 cup of strong coffee or espresso, cooled
- 1/2 cup of sugar
- 1/4 cup of dulce de leche
- 24 ladyfinger cookies
- Cocoa powder or shaved chocolate for garnish
Instructions
- Combine the mascarpone cheese, heavy cream, sugar, and dulce de leche in a large mixing bowl. Use an electric mixer on medium to high speed to beat the ingredients together until they are well blended and fluffy. Set aside.
- Pour the cooled coffee or espresso into a shallow dish. Dip each ladyfinger cookie into the coffee for a few seconds, until the cookie is moistened but not soggy. Place the coffee-soaked cookies in a single layer in the bottom of an 8×8 inch baking dish.
- Spoon half of the mascarpone mixture on top of the ladyfinger cookies. Smooth the mixture out over the cookies so that it is evenly distributed. Repeat the process, creating another layer of coffee-soaked cookies on top of the mascarpone mixture, and then add the remaining mascarpone mixture to the top.
- Cover the baking dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or until the tiramisu has set and become firm.
- Before serving, sprinkle the top of the tiramisu with cocoa powder or shaved chocolate for a finishing touch.
Introduction
Tiramisu has always been one of my favorite desserts to make (and eat!). The combination of coffee, rich cream, and chocolate is absolutely irresistible. But when I discovered dulce de leche, I knew I had to come up with a way to incorporate it into this classic dessert. That’s how I came up with this dulce de leche tiramisu recipe!
If you’re not familiar with dulce de leche, it’s a creamy caramel sauce that is popular in Latin America. It’s made by slowly heating sweetened condensed milk until it becomes thick and caramelized. The result is a rich, indulgent sauce that is perfect for adding to desserts or spreading on toast.
This recipe uses the traditional tiramisu ingredients, such as mascarpone cheese, heavy cream, and ladyfinger cookies, but it’s the dulce de leche that really sets it apart. The sweetness of the caramel sauce pairs perfectly with the bitterness of the coffee, and the creaminess of the mascarpone cheese ties everything together.
One of the tricks to making this recipe is to be patient when dipping the cookies in the coffee. You want them to be moist, but not so soggy that they fall apart. Another tip is to make sure that you use a shallow dish for the coffee, so that the cookies don’t soak up too much liquid.
This dulce de leche tiramisu recipe is perfect for a special occasion or a weekend treat. It’s easy to make, but the end result is impressive enough to wow any dinner guests. Give it a try and see for yourself!
